About me and my practice
I believe that in the right conditions, we can thrive- not just survive. However, sometimes unresolved issues and trauma, self-limiting beliefs and overwhelming emotions such as anxiety and depression can leave us stuck in old patterns of thought and behaviour.
I aim to create the right conditions so that you can explore what may be holding you back. I believe that ALL emotions are valid and natural responses to lived experiences, including trauma. I aim to offer you a supportive space where you can feel and process your emotions, without judgement or advice.
As a person-centred counsellor, I take my lead from you. I believe you are the expert on yourself and your life experiences. Offering empathy and warmth, I will listen, reflect and sometimes prompt or ask questions to help you gain deeper insight into yourself.
I have a good understanding of trauma and the way it impacts the nervous system. I believe that past trauma is at the root of much distress. I can work with you to explore your triggers, survival mechanisms you may have developed and ways to move forward.
My hope is that through our work together, you will learn to listen to yourself and discover your own inner capacity to face life's challenges and pursue your dreams!
Experience
Working in education for many years, I developed a passion for helping people to realise their potential and feel empowered. After my own positive experiences of therapy in the past, I decided to move into counselling as a career.
Since qualifying, I have worked in a voluntary capacity for a charity (baby loss, pregnancy/fertility issues)as well as running my own private practice. I have experience working with a range of issues including, but not limited to: self-esteem, perfectionism, confidence, anxiety, grief/loss, neurodivergence, relationships and finding meaning/purpose.
I can incorporate creative ways of working into counselling sessions for those who are interested. I have a passion for art and also facilitate Art for Wellbeing classes on a weekly basis.

Initial Consultation
I offer a free ten minute phone call to discuss your needs. We can then decide whether to go ahead with a full assessment session via Zoom. This is a process which will give an idea about whether we are a good fit and whether to proceed with sessions together.
Fees
Standard fee= £50 for 50 minute session.
Concessions may be given at discretion to clients for whom the full fee is not affordable.
